IGBO President 's Report
Last Updated: 03/04/2010
Here’s to a wonderful and happy spring to our bowlers in the Northern Hemisphere and welcome back fall to our friends down under.
By the time you receive this issue of the newsletter and read this article, I will have had the opportunity to attend two tournaments. First in January, I attended ACT in San Antonio. During the tournament weekend the South Plains Director, John Kincheloe held a regional meeting, which had an excellent turn out of over 30 participants. Once again the event was sold out. Special thanks to Joey, Val and their entire committee for a wonderful time. Next up, was Dixie over Easter weekend. Special thanks to the Co-directors Dr. Lee and Mike Terry and the entire Dixie Committee for their hospitality and efforts in helping make to Dixie’s tournament a success.
This year marks the 30th of IGBO’s existence. In a very short time and for our next gathering, we will be in Columbus, OH, as they will be kicking off our anniversary celebrations by being our hosts for the 30th Annual IGBO. Brian Cole, Steve Copeland, Jerry Sesco and the entire Columbus Committee have been hard at work for the last two years preparing for our event. They are anticipating a great turnout and expect to well exceed the numbers of when they hosted the IGBO Annual back in 2001 and had nearly 750 participants. There will be several key items to be voted on during our board meetings and the General Membership Meeting. First, we have five board positions up for election which includes; Vice President, Secretary and Regional Directors for the Pacific Northwest, Southern and South Plains. As many of you have heard by now, we will also be holding an election to complete the term of Treasurer. We will also be selecting the site to host IGBO Annual 2012, our 32nd anniversary. We have one location that will be making a presentation to the membership, the combined cities of Jersey City and New York City. Additionally, our Corporate Sponsorship with the current merchandiser of IGBO, Bowled Over Promotions (BOP) will be up for renewal, since our current agreement expires June 30th.
For those of you not being able to attend Columbus, I ask that you remember to send your proxies in to help up achieve quorum and vote on these key issues. For those of you who will be in Columbus and are not Reps, I personally invite you to attend the General Membership Meeting to see first-handed how IGBO conducts our business.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our current Vice President - Stephanie Johnstone, Secretary – Larry Sanchez, Southern Region Director - Ray Krasneck and South Plains Region Director - John Kincheloe for their years of service on the board in their positions and for their many contributions to IGBO. It has been a great pleasure working with each of you.
I would like to close by saying thank you for your patience, input and support for this past year. It has truly been an honor and my pleasure to serve you. If there is anything that I or the board can do to help make your experience into IGBO more rewarding and meaningful, please don’t hesitate to ask.
In Unity, Fellowship and Communication,
Greg
